Words have more power than we are sometimes willing to admit. We can be quick to give an opinion, speak our mind, or share our own experiences. Sometimes we fail to be mindful that our tone and timing are good. Opinions and speaking truth with grace certainly have their place. I think we would do well to make sure that we’re speaking plenty of encouraging and positive words.

The way we speak to and about ourselves and others usually springs from what we think. A lot of negative self-talk can put us in a funk or cause a quick downward spiral. Verbally putting others down is often a reflection of how we feel about ourselves.

Generally, we would be kind and courteous, even extra gracious to a stranger in the grocery store and our best friend. But when we play the dialogue in our own minds after we’ve made a mistake or realize we don’t “have it all together”, we can be extremely hard on ourselves and downright unkind. I cannot express enough the importance of giving yourself grace and talking nicely to yourself! YOU are the ONLY, ONE ORIGINAL and SPECIAL YOU! Claim your strengths and grow into the best version of you that you can!

 

 

BUILD OTHERS UP

As you embrace your own strengths and unique abilities, look for others to encourage and build up! Everyone needs a positive word or to have someone notice something special that they are gifted at or recognize the strides they’re making in personal growth! Our kids can use an extra daily dose of love and positive affirmation as they fight their own battles. Small and consistent efforts to encourage yourself and others can make a huge impact!
