Gifts from the heart

Recently I posted about Kids Are Heroes which is a wonderful organization that celebrates and helps kids who are making a difference in their communities and world. I think it is wonderful to see kids with such big hearts giving to others in need.

When I began my business, I have always wanted to use my business to do something to make a difference or be able to be charitable as well. My business is still very new, and I don’t have the funds to do anything grand which is why I was excited to become a Kids Are Heroes Ambassador since it is a way I can help by spreading the word. Through that and Twitter, I discovered another awesome organization called Bears On Patrol. They collect stuffed animals to give to police departments to give to children. These children may have just gone through a terrible situation, and the idea is to bring comfort to them. Recently, their stuffed animal mascot, Miles the Bear, has been starting his journey across the U.S. and staying with different people as a way to promote awareness for the program. I am very excited to be hosting him in the near future. My kids are as well.

So what am I trying to say? Basically, charity does not have to be some big grand gesture. There are programs that you can get involved with that take just  a bit of your time or a donation that comes from the heart. I want my children to grow up desiring to help others, and these two charities seem like a good place to start to me!

  1. I so wish I could go. I found out about Kids Are Heroes Day just a few days after I committed to a festival for the town in which I live! I hope that Kids Are Heroes Day is a great day for all!
