Today Sissy Girl turned four. A few days before that, Bubby turned seven. Tonight as I put Sissy to bed, I cried. I cannot believe how big my babies are. Time has just flown by since I held each of them as newborns. In the blink of an eye, they went from newborns to crawling babies, to cruisers, to sassy toddlers, then to determined preschoolers. In the blink of an eye, they will keep growing and becoming the wonderful unique people that they are. They will have crushes, get their hearts broken, learn to drive, and spread their wings and fly from here. It really goes so fast. So I wanted to say a few things to my babies tonight for tomorrow and for the future.
To my babies:
I love you with all my heart. I may not be the best mommy in the whole world, but I try to do the best I can. I am still learning just like you. I love the things that make you both who you are: your sweetness, your quirks, your creativity. You both make me feel proud to be a mother.
I am grateful to be your mother and look forward to being there watching you both grow as the beautiful and unique people you are meant to be. I look forward to watching the great things you will do. I will be there to hold you when the road gets tough. I will be there when you need me.
I will try to be more understanding and less uptight about things. I am not perfect, but I want you both to know that no matter what, I love you more than words can say. I am thankful to have you both in my life. You are two beautiful children with big hearts who I believe will do big things. God made you special, and I thank him for sharing you both with me and your father.
Mommy loves you so much!
