Makeup Tips for Transitioning from Summer to Fall

First Up, Check Your Tools

Organizing for fall is a great time to make sure you have the proper tools. Do you have all the brushes you need? Are they dirty? How about your tweezers and eyelash curlers? Are they in good shape?

I admit that I haven’t always been the best at cleaning my brushes. However, I found some tools to help me keep them clean. I found this Shadow Switch Makeup Brush Cleaner this spring at TJ Maxx. I love this thing so much, and it helps me keep things nice and clean!

Make sure you go through your brushes and clean them. Throw out your tired and worn out ones. They won’t help you anyways! Then make sure you have a place to organize them and keep them at your disposal.

Next, Check Your Foundation and Concealer

Do you have foundation from summer still? Well, that’s great and all, but chances are that color is a little darker than you are now. Be sure to color swatch yourself for foundation and concealer so that you have the right color for your skin. If you need some more reasons why, please watch this video:

While a lot of 90’s trends are back, let’s not make this one of them!

Throw Out Old Makeup

Seasonal transitions are a great time to throw out that old makeup. I found a nice handy guide on B Loved Boston to help you figure out if your makeup is past its prime. While I know it is tempting to hang onto something, it really isn’t good for you. It can cause skin irritations, break outs, and a whole list of issues. Be on the safe side and throw your old stuff away when it’s expired!

Go Through What’s Left

After doing all of this, go through what you have left and see if you have some deep, rich colors or neutral tones that are great for fall. Look through your fall wardrobe and see what eye shadows, lip colors, and nail products will look great with that new sweater you just bought!

…Then Buy What You Need

After you do all of that, head to your favorite store for beauty and get what you need. If you are thrifty like me, check out what deals stores are having. I always check my Ulta rewards before heading there for things like foundation, so I get the most bang for my buck!

And that’s my easy Makeup tips to transition from Summer to Fall

Seriously easy, right? It takes a little bit of time, but you will have everything you need and look super cute when heading out to the pumpkin patch…or huddling in a blanket once the weather turns cold. I hope you found these makeup tips for transitioning from summer to fall helpful. Be sure to save this for later to help you next year as well!

    1. I have hoarding tendencies as well! I have started restricting myself a lot more because of it 🙂

    1. and having things that work year round is awesome too. Just remember to make sure that it is current because expired products can wreck havoc on your skin.

  1. Great tips! I need to clean my makeup brushes. Shame on me I’ve never done that. However, I just purchased a new powder foundation so I can use the sponge that comes with that.

  2. I liked the beauty product timeline you shared. I always wondered how long makeup lasts. I appreciate the information!

  3. Thanks for the reminder. I just threw out some mascara the was so old it was beginning to dry up. No way that could have been good to keep.
