A Bit About the Upcoming Total Solar Eclipse

A total Solar Eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and Earth, blocking out the face of the sun. The upcoming eclipse has been dubbed the Great North American Eclipse. It will be the last total solar eclipse visible in the contiguous U.S. until 2044.

Why is this special?

While a total solar eclipse happens about once every 18 months, depending on where you live, you may only see this event once in your lifetime, unless you go out of your way to travel for one.

Why Using Protective Eyewear is important?

Looking directly at the sun on a normal day can adversely affect your eyes. However, looking directly at the sun may cause temporary or permanent damage during a total solar eclipse. Regular sunglasses are not recommended either because they don’t contain the proper filters for such an event. Therefore using a pair of solar eclipse glasses makes the best choice to prevent eyesight damage. If you haven’t picked up a pair yet, click here to check out these solar eclipse glasses on Amazon.
