Fighting Inflammation with Aloe Vera

*I received product in exchange for this review. All thoughts are my own. May contain affiliate links.

As many of you know who follow me on other social media accounts, I have not been very active for a while because of my health. I do plan on going into detail about things and giving an update in the very near future, but I have been in a lot of pain. I have migraines and other issues related to a brain injury, so when the opportunity presented itself to try Nature’s Factory Earth’s Aloe, I thought it was worth a try.

I have an aloe vera plant at home that I use for topical medicinal purposes. However, the aloe vera plant can also aid in digestion issues and help fight inflammation. Because of the neck injury I received from my accident fifteen years ago, I fight pain on a daily basis. It made me curious to try this product.

I honestly wish I would have known about this before because it does help with some of the pain I experience from day to day. Because I have such chronic pain, it makes me deliriously happy to get any sort of relief! It can also be useful if you have arthritis as well.

While I do not have issues with is now, I have had stomach issues in the past, and many people take this to help relieve IBS and other stomach issues. Who woulda thunk that this plant you use for cuts and scrapes could also do all of this?

Needless to say, I am hooked. Plus, it makes me happy that they are also a small company and made in the USA.

If you have chronic pain, like me, or if you have stomach issues, it may be worth looking into taking this as a supplement. You can find more information on their website or follow them on Facebook. You can also find them on Amazon as well.

I hope that if you have some of the issues I do that you can find relief, and if you have used this product, please let me know how it helped you in the comments below!

Summer Water Fun with Water Wubble

*I received product and compensation but all opinions are my own. May contain affiliate links.

One of the things we love most about summer is water fights! We love using water balloons but hate the messy clean up afterwards. In fact, my driveway still has some pieces leftover from our last one, so I was pretty excited that we all got to test out the Water Wubble recently.

What’s a Water Wubble? Water Wubble is like a water balloon that splashes but doesn’t break! You can refill them and use them over and over again! It is awesome! You don’t have a messy clean up either.

You can use a hose, a water bottle, or your faucet to fill them. They do not need tied and are fairly easy to close. The little one could handle them with ease. According to the kidlets, they are better than water balloons because they hold more water than regular balloons because you do not have to tie them. All three kids had a blast with their water war.

Water Wubble is available online at the Wubble Ball website and also at Target! You get 8 Water Wubble Balls in two colors, red and blue, so that you can form teams and play. My girls really liked that they each had their own color and that they could fill them as little or as much as they wanted.

We found them to be durable, and we look forward to playing with them more throughout the summer! Have you tried them? If so, how did you like them? Feel free to tell me in the comments below, and don’t forget to follow Misfit Mama Bear Haven on Social Media!

Wonder Crew Review

I received this product in exchange for review. All opinions are my own. Posts may contain affiliate links.

Who doesn’t want to be a super hero? With Wonder Crew dolls, your child can be just that and go on super hero adventures with their Wonder Crew Doll! Today, I wanted to take some time and tell you all about these super cool dolls that Miss Crankles and I found!

These dolls have been on Miss Crankles’ want list for a while, and if you held the doll, you would know why. These dolls are super soft. Her doll, Will, is now her favorite doll to take to bed at night because of the cuddle factor. However, that is not the only reason she loves him. He comes with a cape and mask, and there is a cape and mask for her too. She loves to play dress up, so having a doll that she can match for adventures makes him all the more fun.

I love the concept of these dolls and wish that they would have been around when Bubby was younger. When he was little, he wanted a boy doll. Do you know how hard it was to find him one? I eventually found a Cabbage Patch Doll for him, but it took forever for me to find him. These dolls were inspired by boys and help promote that dolls are not just for girls. However, these dolls are meant for everyone and really help break down barriers that say that boys and girls can only play with certain toys.

I also wanted to add that I really appreciate the packaging on these dolls. So many of the toys we get have hard to remove packaging, and as you can see, this is not the case here.

The easy packaging made it easy to get him out of the box and off on an adventure with Crankles!

Miss Crankles is totally in love with her Will doll, and we are excited to see what new dolls come from the Wonder Crew in the future. These dolls can be found at Target and Toys R Us and run about $29.99. For my readers who celebrate Easter, these would make great alternatives to candy for Easter Baskets too!

I really hope to see more of these kinds of dolls, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comments below!

Coping with Holiday Stress and Chaos (plus a Review and Giveaway)

This post contains products I received to review. All opinions are my own.

I am not a holiday person. However, the years I did the whole party planning and toy store schtick, I really had to be as holly jolly as I could. It is hard though and kinda stressful this time of year. People are always in a hurry, and everyone’s expectations are super high. It leaves most everyone feeling kinda grumpy and irritated trying to deal with it all.

That is how I am feeling today. I really tried this year to get into the spirit. Miss Crankles is almost at the age where all of the Santa and elves thing is fun. My middle child is at the age where that point in her life is almost done. Then there is my son. He has the teenage angst thing going, and he kinda thinks most of the holiday stuff is lame. My husband is a geologist for oil and natural gas exploration, so he is gone for two weeks and then home for a week. I tried to cram a month’s worth of Christmas fun into this week. By last night, I blew up and spent the rest of the night in tears because my whole family got sick, and well I was not planning on that. We still had not gotten to see Santa. I did not get little special ornaments for each of them. I have no idea where the hell their stockings are, and the presents…well, they are still not wrapped. I think I officially ended up in holiday hell.

Everyone is feeling better today, but I ended up disinfecting the house one more time, just to be safe. My hands are raw. My brain is tired, and well I think it safe to say I am hiding out in our homeschool room for the rest of the day because I need to take a time out and regroup. I need to lower the expectations a bit and STAY OFF FACEBOOK FOR GOODNESS SAKE! Am I the only one that ever thinks that I am doing a decent job at all of this and then checks Facebook to see that everyone is way better than I am. After reading Facebook, I discover that I, in fact, suck at all of this. So yeah, maybe one of the first ways to decompress from holiday hell is to use social media a little less. Let’s face it, we all know that life on Facebook and real life are two different things anyways…sad but true. Also, some people are just more creative, more festive, or just more patient than the rest of us. So don’t let social media bring you down.

Also, seeing as I am taking some time away from everyone at the moment, remember to do the same. It is so easy to get overwhelmed this time of year. Make sure you take some time for yourself. Right now, that time includes writing, but it also includes a nice cup of tea…

…which brings me to my review.

One of the things I love about drinking tea or coffee is the cup in which I use…whether it is one I bought myself or one someone gave to me. teacup2.jpg

It is one of the big reasons I was so excited to receive this from Hallmark. It is one of those cups that not only would make me happy if I bought it myself, but it is something I would give to someone else to help them relax a little bit. On days like today, where things are seeming like they are not going right at all, sometimes a cup of tea can help me reset so I can move forward with the rest of my day. If you are giving it as a gift, you can pair it with tea from Hallmark as well!

Since I banished everyone from the homeschool room, I also decided to burn a candle, if only to chase the negativity away. I am currently burning my Crafters &Co Cinamon Bark Candle . I also have it in Mistletoe. It is not only helping me get back into a cheery mood, it’s filling the room with a not-too overpowering scent. I burn a lot of candles, and I love ones that have a good smell, but they don’t make me want to gag after burning them for more than a few minutes. These candles burn quite nice. The Mistletoe pillar candle has a nice soap to complement it too. I keep these in the bathroom because I really like doing little things to create a relaxing atmosphere anywhere. Sometimes, just a mini spa experience with nice soap and a silky lotion is a good pick me up.

I know that this time of year is stressful, and I hope that you can use some of the things I have mentioned to de-stress a bit. The products I mentioned in here can be found at your local Hallmark store or online. However, I am also lucky enough to give one of my readers a chance to win a set like the one pictured above. Undercover Mama Nursing Tank Review and Giveaway!

*I received this product in exchange for a review, but the review is all my own thoughts. There may also be affiliate links in this post because I gotta pay for Crankle’s diapers somehow!

I never thought I would be nursing this long! Miss Crankles just turned two and is still nursing strong. My other two children did not nurse past four months, and for me, I like to be able to nurse wherever I am. I discovered Undercover Mama when Crankles was a few months old and gave them a try. I like to wear nursing tanks under my clothes because it gives me a way to keep my tummy covered and nurse discreetly. For the last two years, I have chosen my clothes with keeping in mind how easy it would be to nurse. I have a collection of dresses and shirts that help with that.

The Undercover Mama Nursing tanks work a little differently than the traditional tank top. The Undercover Mama tank does not have straps. They connect to your nursing bra like this:

This makes it easy to just unhook and nurse without adjusting your shirt. I like to wear a shirt over my tank because that is just me. If you are still a bit shy about nursing in public, this combination actually works better than trying to use a nursing cover because you can pretty much nurse without your boob showing as you can see here:

And here:

By taking away the extra step of either having to lift your shirt or taking your breast out of the top of your shirt, it takes less time to get ready to nurse and makes it quite comfortable.

The fit is a bit form-form fitting, but remember that you will be most likely layering anyways. It was about 90 degrees the day we took those pictures, and I was quite comfortable. They go up to 3xl in some of their styles too! I am wearing a 2xl in the pictures above.

If you want to give them a try, you can visit Undecover Mama’s website or you can find them on Amazon too! I am also giving you the chance this week to win a nursing tank from Undercover Mama! Here is what you gotta do:

Getting back to a bath and bedtime ritual with Baby Mantra and a Giveaway

baby mantra pin

I received this product for the purpose of this review, however, I am not compensated for writing or obligated to write anything specific. These are my own opinions and they have not been influenced in any way by Baby Mantra.

The events of the past few months, with moving and my health issues, have been stressful on us all. For Baby Sweetpea, it has been especially hard because she can’t always vocalize how she is feeling, and all the traveling has seriously wrecked havoc on her schedule. That is why getting back on schedule and finding ways to calm her have been so important.

That is where creating a new bath and bedtime regime have come into play. The last few months leading up to our move have been downright chaotic. Sweetpea used to have a regular bedtime, and while we didn’t have a strict ritual, it has been in my mind to create one because my other kids thrived on routine when they were little. I wanted to incorporate things she would enjoy while creating a relaxing atmosphere to help her prepare for sleep.

After a dinner like this, I think she definitely needs a bath.

Sweetpea loves bath time, and she loves to play in the tub. Recently, I tried the 3-in-1 Bubble Bath, Shampoo & Wash by Baby Mantra to make bath time more fun. She loved it, and now we do a bubble bath every night! The thing I love about this product is that it is multi-purpose and all natural as well. You can make your child’s bath bubbly and then use the same product to get your child squeaky clean! With having older kids that are dancing and participating in other activities during the week, it’s nice to just be able to grab one thing and make it work for everything.  I was a little skeptical that something that you can use as shampoo and body wash would bubble up enough, but Sweetpea thought it was great!

20150926_195532-2After bath time, I have been putting lotion on her because it helps relax her, and it keeps her skin soft. The Baby Mantra Calming Lotion is great because it had Lavender in it, which creates a calming effect. It aids in getting babies and children ready for sleep! I like this particular product because it isn’t as greasy as some other lotions. I tend to lotion her scalp a bit, and it doesn’t make her hair look all oily. She also smells great afterwards, and I know it is probably weird, but I do love to sit, snuggle, and smell my baby now and again.

These are must haves for a relaxing bedtime for babies!

These are must haves for a relaxing bedtime for babies!

Sometimes, after a particularly trying day, more than a bath and lotion are needed to calm my baby down. I was so happy to be able to try Baby Mantra’s Calming Massage Oil. Baby Massage is a great way to promote bonding with baby anyways, but it smells so good, and it really does help relax Sweetpea. Moving to a new house has been rough on her, and while she can’t tell me how she is feeling most of the time, her temperament has been cranky much of the time. Soothing her with the natural baby oil has made her more pleasant in the evening so that we can do things like read or sing before she goes to bed. She hasn’t been as fussy when I put her in her bed.

a good nighttime line up!

a good nighttime line up!

For my kids, I like to use more natural products, and that is what makes Baby Mantra a great fit for my family!

Baby Mantra’s earth-friendly range of extremely gentle personal care products for children (newborn to 8 years old) are made with all-natural skincare ingredients. Baby Mantra products have been certified by the Natural Products Association (NPA), are gluten-free, allergy-tested and cruelty-free.
You can find Baby Mantra products across the country at stores like Albertsons, Jewel Osco, Walgreens, Duane Reade and Meijer. We recommend using the store locator on the company’s website to find a store nearest you. In addition, Baby Mantra can be found online on websites such as Amazon.com, Babiesrus.com (and retail stores nationwide), Drugstore.com, Walgreens.com, and Diapers.com.
Creating a bedtime ritual with a nightly bath and infant massage has been helpful in getting our baby to adapt to all the changes around her. It is important to give children consistency, and I want to make sure that Sweetpea enjoys our new house, her room, and the world around her. I don’t want her stressed out. It isn’t good for her, and it isn’t good for mama either. That is why I teamed up with Baby Mantra to give away 6 full sized natural baby skincare products, a $70 value!
One lucky winner will receive the following:
1.  3-in-1 Bubble Bath, Shampoo & Wash
2. Calming Lotion
3. Newborn Shampoo & Wash
4. Diaper Rash Ointment
5. Calming Massage Oil
6. Detangling Conditioner

Avengers: Age of Ultron Review (Spoiler-free!)

This past weekend, I got the opportunity to take the big kids to see Avengers: Age of Ultron. We are all big Marvel fans here and have been anxiously awaiting this movie for a long time.

In this installment of the Avengers, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner attempt a peace-keeping program and inadvertantly create Ultron, a cyber being intent on human destruction. The team must assemble to defeat Ultron before he destroys the Earth.  We see some new characters in this film, like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, and we learn more about Hawkeye’s personal life. Plus, there is a budding relationship between two of the main characters. The movie is filled with a lot of action, as well as humor. The main characters are all pretty developed throughout the film, and it is definitely one you want to enjoy in 3-D.

The kids and I love the movie. My big kids are 8 and 11. The violence in the movie is not gory, and most of the innuendos in it went right over their heads. The language is a little coarse at times but not overly so. It is over 2 hours long, so if you are planning on taking children, you want to make sure that they can last through a long movie. This is definitely one of the better 3-D films we have seen, and my daughter said she really felt things were coming right at her.

If you haven’t followed the individual movies of Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man in between the first Avengers movie, you may want to watch them before you go so you are not lost. The movies are all pretty interconnected and have important bits of information to help the movie make more sense.

We can’t wait to see it again and are now looking forward to the next movie in the series!
