It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween-mas?
So today as I was driving home from that big box store that I really-can’t -stand -but -have -to -sometimes -put -on -my- big -girl -pants -and -visit -anyways, I saw the most peculiar display all through one of the local towns: Christmas decorations. At first, I thought that perhaps I created some rift in the space-time continuum, by bringing out the geek in my kids and having us all go as Star Wars characters for Halloween, that I totally bypassed Halloween and ended up somewhere near Christmas. Fortunately, that was not the case. So I have a few theories to what is going on in this local town.
Theory 1: The town took a themed approach to Halloween this year. Perhaps they decided to go all “Nightmare Before Christmas” this year. Hence the town is decorated in Christmas finery with hints of Halloween. However, upon careful inspection, I noticed that Jack Skellington was nowhere to be found, much to my dismay. I mean, how AWESOME is that movie!?!?! (Mental note: I need to watch that again.) So that leaves me with theory 2, and believe me, it is a good one!
Theory 2: Something-Something Wrestling Alliance Presents “The Ultimate Halloweenmas or Christmasween (whichever you prefer) fight for who is the better beloved mythological character.” Also known as The Great Pumpkin vs. Santa Claus. (Try saying that all at once or ten times fast).
I rather like theory 2. It will be live on Pay-Per-View for 39.95. These two present-giving cherished characters will duke it out for your enjoyment to see who will be the Ultimate Children’s Holiday favorite. “There can be only one!”
Ok, ok… I really didn’t go off the deep-end or anything, but seriously, what else am I supposed to think when I see holly wreaths and Christmas trees next to ghosts and skeletons? So, to nearby local town that I will not name, I have just saved you the time of coming up with your own explanation! You are welcome.
Have any of you seen Christmas decorations yet?
