Thanksgiving is a holiday full of traditions for many people. Some families create the same recipes year after year. Some families watch the Macy’s Day parade every year. Traditions can be anything we want them to be. With the changes in the world over the last couple of years, many people are looking for new traditions to start. Whether you are trying to create traditions fitting for the current world situation or you just want to mix things up in general, check out these Thanksgiving traditions to start with your family and see which ones look fun to you!
Create a Thankful Table Cover
Buy a large roll of butcher block paper and use it as a tablecloth. Put a couple of sharpies on the table and have your guests write down what they are thankful for. All of the guests can read these throughout the evening and be reminded of all of the great things there are in life.
Start with a Dessert Breakfast
Many of us starve ourselves throughout the day waiting for the big dinner. It’s a holiday though! Let’s celebrate! Invite your guests to arrive early or just gather your immediate family and enjoy a dessert breakfast. You can get an early start on pie enjoyment or you can buy a dozen donuts the day before. Just go wild and enjoy your holiday breakfast.
A Toast From Everyone
Have a volunteer start off a toast by telling what they are thankful for this year. Take this toast clockwise and allow everyone their opportunity. Many people don’t like being put on the spot, but hearing good news and things to be thankful for really puts a good mood spin on the evening ahead.
Have a Virtual Dinner Party
If there are members of your family or friend group that don’t feel comfortable gathering, why not invite them virtually. The members of your virtual dinner party can have virtually no limits. Plus, even if you aren’t together around the table, you are still together.
