Anyone else feeling like December is flying by? For me, it has been the last few months. I feel so behind on everything…like sharing all my fun holiday goodies with you all! Today I want to share how to make Mickey Gingerbread Cookies for all of you Disney fans out there! They are super simple to make and taste delicious! If you need activities to do over the holiday break, be sure to add these to your list!
Quick tips on making cookies with kids
So I am gonna be honest, baking with kids can be exhausting. If you want to do this recipe on your own, that is totally cool. However, if you want to bake with kids, remember to do this on a day where you don’t have other activities.
Sometimes clean up is messier. Make sure you have an area to spread out. Use aprons if possible or possibly old tee shirts for easy laundering. Baking with kids can be fun but it can also be a test on patience. That is okay. We are all human! Enough about that, though! On to the recipe!
Mickey Gingerbread Cookies
Ingredients:
½ cup brown sugar
2 tbsp granulated sugar
½ cup butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
1/3 cup molasses
3 cups flour
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ginger
½ tsp all spice
½ tsp salt
White decorating icing
Red and green M&M’s
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until just combined. Do not cream
the butter for these cookies.
Once combined, add in egg, vanilla, and molasses.
Again, mix until just combined. Add in all seasonings. While mixing, add flour a
little at a time, until flour is no longer visible.
Transfer dough to floured countertop. Roll out dough.
Cut out cookies with
Mickey cookie cutter (if you don’t have one, this one on Amazon works great), place on lined baking pan. Bake in preheated oven for
about 9-10 minutes.
Allow time to cool.
Use white decorating icing to add a wave pattern to the ears. Place two dots of
icing across the center in a vertical line.
Then, get one red and one green M&M.
Place the two M&Ms on the dots.
