Snacks

Having the right snacks definitely makes for a fun evening. Don’t think you have to be totally traditional in your snack choices though. Choose something fun. Connect with your inner child and bring out the M&Ms and Gummy Worms! Don’t be afraid to get creative! You can also purchase a movie night in a box kit, like this one from Amazon, to simplify things if needed.

Picking Your Date Night at Home Movie

My best advice is to always have a movie in mind before you settle in for date night. There are times my husband and I have decided to do an impromptu movie night. Then we spend over a half-hour perusing Netflix.

If you plan to do this regularly, trade off on the movie ideas. Think of movies that have recently become available that you didn’t see at the movie theater. Just make sure it is something you will both enjoy. Maybe keep a running list so that you always have suggestions!

If you are just starting to date the person, make sure you know what genres of movies they like.

Grab some blankets and cozy gear!

Part of the fun of a movie date night at home is snuggling next to your date. Create a fun, cozy atmosphere before the date so that you can cuddle up and enjoy the time together. Put your phones on mute and set them down before the movie starts. Then relax and enjoy the movie and your date!

Final Thoughts

The point of the movie night is to have fun. Make sure to keep it light and fun. Whether you have just started dating or have been together for a while, date night is an important way to keep that connection with each other. So make it fun for both of you.

  9. My boyfriend and I have been social distancing to protect our families. We have only spent time with each other once in the last couple of months when neither of our families went out for a week. We are supposed to have an upcoming date night for his birthday next week.
