While I love having a handwritten record for planning, I also like to have something available online as well. Recently, in our list for reviews, we received the Annual Membership Plan for My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping to plan our new school year. I am excited to share about our experience and how it can help my fellow homeschooling families.
What is My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping?
My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping is an online subscription used to keep track of homeschool student schedules, activities, standardized test results, book logs, and more. You can use it to plan your student’s schedules and create a lesson plan. It is completely mobile too! You can access it from your desktop, tablet, or phone.
My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping provides for unlimited students as well. This means you don’t have to pay per child. You can keep track of all your students, their activities, classes, and grades all in one place!
How it Works
When you first log in, you can create student profiles for each of your children. Then you should watch the introduction video to help you get started. It gives you a nice tutorial and navigation to the site to start planning. It allows you to be super detailed or not-so detailed if you are just getting your feet wet.
With My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping, you can:
- create lessons/classes that can be re-used and copied to other students.
- create and download transcripts on your phone
- generate lessons on an ipad
- track chores, recurring classes like music lessons, sports events, extra curricular.
- track to-do items, events, home repairs, honey-do lists, meal lists
- record book logs
- record standardized test results
How we are Using My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping
While I love having a handwritten planner. (Actually I have one for homeschool/family and another for Blogging/Work), I need to have something that is mobile too. I don’t take my planner with me everywhere. Because I have short term memory issues from my TBI, I like the security of having things in more than one place. Also, I like for the big kids to have access to schedules and lesson plans from anywhere as well. Our family is very active, and this helps keep everyone on track. I don’t have to dig out my planner if I am doing something else. I can just tell the kids to check our online record keeping center.
This is also helpful for me when making appointments, playdates, and other plans because I can pull this up and see my calendar. Since it is color coded, I can tell which activities are for which child.
Because of my short term memory problems and my desire to stay on track, I need a lot of help with organizational skills. Because you can add so many things into this record keeping program, I gain confidence that I am staying on top of everything.
Final Thoughts
The Annual Membership Plan for My School Year Homeschool Record Keeping works for anyone that wants to retain records for their homeschool family. While a lot of states don’t require it, it is nice to have these records to plan for the future or just not have to look around for information when you need it. The fact that you can plan beyond your homeschool lessons and days makes this a valuable resource to any family in need of organization.
