Learn to Read with Learning Dynamics Reading Program

by

My youngest loves books, and we read together daily. Since she wants to learn to read, I jumped at the chance to review Learning Dynamics to help my daughter to gain confidence and learn reading skills with the Learning Dynamics Reading Program.

What all comes with the Learning Dynamics Reading Program?

This program is extremely comprehensive and comes with the following materials:

  • Lesson Manual to guide you in teaching your child
  • 50+ full color books
  • 30+ songs on a cd to help children learn letters and sounds
  • Workbook for children to use in learning letters
  • Letter Rewards
  • Flashcards

Plus it comes in a nice box that stores easily which I love because it means I won’t lose anything! The best part is that almost all of it is reusable! That means if you wish to use it with your other children, you can do so by only needing to order another workbook making it a great investment.

How to teach your child to read

Basically, I started by reading through the Lesson Manual to get a better feel for the program. It gives you step by step instructions on what to use in the program materials and how to use them. Within the instructions are also ideas for games and ways to reinforce what your child learns that day.

The program just takes 15 min/day, 3 days/week. I have found my daughter wants to do more than 3 days a week. However, the 15 minutes is quite sufficient, especially for her age. Also, the program has a 98% success rate and is backed by research from the University of Oregon and the International Education Institute. If you follow the program as intended, your child will be reading their first book in about 4 weeks on the average.

Who is this for?

As an FYI, Miss Crankles is four and will turn five at the end of the summer. The program works for both children who don’t even know letters or sounds yet, or for children who read a little bit, but are just struggling. While your child should be able to read their first book with the program, the program actually takes several months.

What We Like About this Program

Miss Crankles and I both enjoy doing this together. She says she enjoys this because she likes spending time with Mommy (awww), and she likes the workbook. It is easy for her to understand.

I like this program because it is easy for me to understand, and everything is all laid out for me. While I homeschooled my older children, it has been a while since I taught reading skills. While I don’t want to push her to read, I know that she desperately wants to do so and loves all of her books.

It’s very colorful, and there are different components to it. While she enjoys the workbook and the characters for the lessons, she doesn’t want to listen to the cd for the lesson. She would rather listen to the cd separately. I am obviously not going to fight with her on the issue and was easily able to adjust for it. Having ideas for other activities to reinforce what she learned is quite helpful as well.

The Wrap Up

If you have a child wanting to learn to read and want something that is easy to follow, I highly recommend the Learning Dynamics Reading Program from Learning Dynamics. It is a headache-free, fun way to teach your child to read. I hope you found this review helpful, and as always, I love hearing feedback from you.
