I have a secret…okay, it’s not really a secret! I have a huge sweet tooth! Unfortunately, I also have a lot of food allergies and stay away from traditional sugar. Sounds like sweets are impossible, right? Not so! Lately, my family and I have been working on creative ways to create tasty treats that work with all my food allergies, plus have tons of flavor! One of my favorite holiday treats is fudge. Recently, I discovered my own recipe for making creamy vegan Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge! It’s got lots of yummy goodness but doesn’t contain gluten, dairy, or soy! Also, it uses maple syrup instead of traditional sugar!
(you can scroll down for the recipe, I won’t be mad)
Let’s Talk Maple Syrup a Sec
Okay, so I use maple syrup in place of traditional sugar pretty much whenever I don’t use coconut sugar. What I love about the particular maple syrup I used for this recipe is that it came from my backyard…sort of! Actually, it came from down the street!
My neighborhood makes its own maple syrup every year! Some of our neighbors help process it, and the syrup is sold around the area until it sells out. The profits from the syrup go right back into the neighborhood to help fund community projects. It is one thing I absolutely love about where I live! Also, the syrup tastes delicious!
A note about using maple syrup in baking and cooking
Generally, maple syrup is pretty sweet. You don’t need a lot of it to sweeten your baked goods. If you use this as a substitute for sugar, you want to play with the ratios a bit so you don’t over-sweeten your goodies!
Why I use Peanut Butter instead of other nut butters for Fudge
For this recipe, you may substitute the peanut butter for another nut butter. I use peanut butter because it is less expensive. I buy mine at Aldi fairly cheap. If you have food allergies or a special diet, you know how expensive the food gets. I want to be able to make a few other holiday goodies, so I need to stretch the budget a bit. The chocolate/peanut butter combination tastes great anyways!
…And Now for the Vegan Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Recipe!
This recipe is super simple, and most of the time taken for this is the actual chilling process!
Ingredients
- 2 C non-dairy chocolate chips. (I use the Hu Dark Chocolate Gems that I get from the local health food store. You can also find them on Amazon)
- 1/3 C full fat canned coconut milk. (don’t use the lite version, as it won’t turn out the same)
- 1/2 C Creamy Peanut Butter
- 2 TBSP Maple Syrup
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract (optional)
- nuts (optional)
Directions
Pour all ingredients into a double boiler (or saucepan if you don’t have a double boiler). Heat on medium low and stir constantly. Once the chocolate starts to melt, cut back to low and continue to stir until smooth.
Using a loaf pan lined with parchment, pour the warm fudge into the loaf pan. Chill in a freezer for about an hour.
Enjoy and refrigerate any leftover fudge!

This sounds delicious. I love chocolate and peanut butter.
It is one of my favorite desserts. I actually make this whenever I need a chocolate fix and have been experimenting with it and a few other things and will hopefully have a new recipe soon that uses this as a base. Most likely, though, it won’t be up until the new blog is ready late this spring 🙂
Some may be put off by the word “Vegan”. But I guarantee if you tried this fudge, it may be the best you have ever had.
This sounds like an extra special treat. Chocolate and peanut butter just seem to belong together!
