True Confessions of an Overachiever

I never think about myself as an overachiever or an over-scheduler until someone points out that I have too much on my plate. I homeschool, I create content, and I solo parent about 80 percent of the time because my husband’s job requires a lot of travel. I take on too many field trips, activities, and playdates while also taking my kids to all their therapies. Then I try to cram in content creation on top of all of that. Doing all of that, plus dealing with some recent hardships and trauma, I burned out over the past year. I am trying to piece my life back together in a way that actually works for ME. It’s not an easy task!

How to Set Realistic Goals

When setting goals, it is important to be realistic. Otherwise, you will just sabotage yourself. Also, don’t focus on a lot of goals, just start with one or two things. Make sure they are specific, though!

When setting realistic goals, set a time frame. Also, make sure they fit with any limitations you might have. For me, this is super important as I have chronic health issues and need to be mindful of not overdoing it.

Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you want something but feel stuck, make sure you reach out to friends and family to keep you on task. Also, if you feel really overwhelmed, maybe you should re-evaluate your goals.

  1. I totally agree with setting realistic expectations. I would love to do a blogtober or blogmas but with a full time job and other obligations I just don’t have the time! So I’ve just been trying to set a goal to post at least 3 times a week! Hopefully, I can keep that up!

  2. When I set goals, I leave myself some room to allow me extra time without feeling guilty. Sometimes, life just gets in the way! Thanks for the super giveaway opportunity.

  3. I always set goals. Before I go to sleep, I write down 5 things I want to get done the next day, and I try to do them. If I can’t get them all done, the remainders go on the list for the next day.
