As you know, we love to read books. Recently, we were given the book entitled, “Under the Barnyard Light” by Carla Crane Osborne and illustrated by Brandon Dorman to review. If your children are interested in life on the farm, then you definitely want to read on to find out more about this story!
About Under The Barnyard Light
Since my kids know I grew up on a farm, they ask me questions about it a lot. While my big kids got to experience farm life on my parents’ farm and their Nana’s farm, Miss Crankles has not had much experience. Reading books on subjects when she asks questions is one of the ways I try to explain things to her. Under the Barnyard Light is a book perfect for that too!
Under the Barnyard Light shows what life is like in the winter on the farm. It presents a magical view of life on the farm as children get to see what it is like to feed the calves, see the little girl’s horse, and wander about the farm on a winter’s night.
What We Loved About this Book
Under the Barnyard Light is a very easy to read book with beautiful illustrations. The author, Carl Crane Osborne, grew up on a farm, and she uses that experience from which to draw in this book. The illustrations by Brandon Dorman are quite beautiful too.
This book makes a great bedtime story. We added this into our bedtime story rotation recently as it is a nice relaxing book. It gives a beautiful glimpse of farm life and presents it in a way that has my little one asking questions about what farm life was like for me. I love when books give children a thirst for knowledge!
