Last year, my family and I reviewed the Ultimate PreK-12 Annual Membership from SchoolhouseTeachers.com and loved it! As you may recall, I focused more on the homeschool curriculum offerings for the big kids in that review. Now that it is a new year, I want to discuss my overall experience with you all. Plus I want to share how we are using SchoolhouseTeachers.com with our youngest too!

What is SchoolhouseTeachers.com?

SchoolhouseTeachers.com is an online homeschool curriculum resource from The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine. The site provides educational material from pre-k all the way through 12th grade. How you utilize your membership is totally up to your needs. You can use it for your complete curriculum or pick from certain subject areas such as:

In addition, they provide a lot of support through their customer service and their online Facebook community. Not only do they provide all these classes and support, they provide other resources as well…such as lesson plans, The World Book Online Resource Library, access to a video library, and a parent e-book library (full of resources to help parents who are getting started or need encouragement). They even have a page that breaks down holiday and seasonal themes to make it easy to find lessons and unit studies on related themes.

How We are Using SchoolHouseTeachers.com for Pre-K and Kindergarten

Since the courses range from pre-school to high school on SchoolhouseTeachers.com, there are a lot of options for Miss Crankles too in the Preschool Playground and Kindergarten sections on SchoolhouseTeachers.com. Being able to pick from both sections is super helpful because Crankles needs materials from both sections. She turned 5 at the end of August, and we are working at a pace that works for her.

She and I explored the class ABC: What Will I Be? It provides a downloadable packet of printables and a lesson plan for each week. We enjoyed this one because each letter had a different theme. She loved seeing what the focus was for that particular week and the activities involved. For example, B week involved baking. which is one of her favorite things to do!

Lately, I have been pulling from different subjects in the Kindergarten section and creating a lesson plan that way. If you follow me on Instagram, you know we do a variety of different activities throughout our days, so this works as a great resource for us.

Having fun with Lessons

I could tell you all about the courses and offerings from SchoolhouseTeachers.com all day long. However, I wanted to share my biggest reasons why I love this website.

If you have followed my blog the past few years, you know that I struggled with illness and that my family went through some financial hardships. As a homeschool family, this all made homeschooling a challenge. I constantly worried that my kids weren’t getting enough out of their school day because I wasn’t always present. I spent a lot of time for a few years either not feeling well or in a doctor’s office or hospital having tests done. Also, homeschooling can get expensive when you homeschool more than one child.

Getting the opportunity to review SchoolhouseTeachers.com last year gave me the opportunity to get my homeschooling back on track. Yes, it took a bit of planning. Yes, there are a lot of things to print (However, we found that if the kids had notebooks and logged into the site from their computers, we could bypass some of that). However, all the tools were available on the website to get us on track and plan out the remainder of our school year.

A lot of our classes have always been more secular based when it comes to a homeschool curriculum, although I have taken some more religious content to review last year. We found it easy to make our school days fairly secular for the big kids. However, if the kids wanted to take a religious course, they had a nice selection from which to choose. This became a big deal for my youngest, who is really interested in Bible stories right now. She fell in love with the Bedbug Bible Gang series and loves to watch it on my computer.

With a SchoolhouseTeachers.com membership, you pay one price for everything and everyone! It covers your whole family. While you will need a sturdy printer, you don’t really need much else. If you wish to homeschool and don’t have a large budget, this site is a great place to start. It also gives the peace of mind of knowing you can customize it to fit each of child’s needs.
